On Saturday Garbine Muguruza beat Venus Williams 7-5, 6-0 to win her first Wimbledon title & second career grand slam title.

Muguruza was clam as she was reaching close to the title. Throughout the tournament Muguruza game becoming better and better. Last two matches she played very high level of tennis. In today’s match Muguruza played attacking high risky corner shots which landed right in. This was Muguruza’s second appearance in the Wimbledon final. Last time she played against Serena in 2015. Venus was playing ninth final.

“She played really well,” Venus said of Muguruza. “I mean, she played top tennis, so I have to give her credit for just playing a better match. I’ve had a great two weeks. I’m looking forward to the rest of the summer.”

“I always come very motivated to the Grand Slams,” Muguruza said. “Since I lost the final here, I wanted to change that. I came thinking, ‘I’m prepared, I feel good.’ During the tournament and the matches, I was feeling better and better.

“I feel incredible to be able to play [Venus] here. Of course I’m nervous because I always dreamed about winning it, but I was composed.”

“When I was a little girl, I was watching these finals,” said the 23-year-old Muguruza. “I was watching Venus — I know it sounds incredible. To be able to play against her and now hold the big trophy, it means a lot.”
