After match handshake

They’ve certainly added so much glitter to the beauty of this game. Even though Nozomi prevailed in the end, PV Sindhu is no less than a winner.

I am upset. In the third game, it was anybody’s game at 20-all. Everybody aims for gold and I was there very close but that last moment changed everything. She is not an easy player. -PV Sindhu

I am extremely delighted to become World Champion and I thank everyone for supporting me. It was a very tough match and I am very tired. -Nozomi Okuhara

After a year of her silver medal win at the Rio Olympic games in 2016, the Hyderabadi girl is still going strong. She has stepped up to the occasion at crucial junctures which have been the key to her success. Now, Sindhu has added another medal to her ever growing kitty, bettering the previous two bronze medals at the Worlds.

Not to forget, even Saina Nehwal had fought hard to take home a medal in this edition. Especially after recovering from the knee surgery which she had undergone off-late. She lost to Okuhara in the semis, who eventually went on to become the World Champion. The Japanese had an impressive run throughout the tournament beating the defending champion Carolina Marin and of course PV Sindhu.
