Kidambi Srikanth has continued his successful run and sealed a spot in the third consecutive Super Series Final. He is only the sixth player in the history of badminton to achieve this rare feat. Srikanth extended his dominating run after defeating China’s Shi Yuqi in straight sets to enter the summit clash.

Comfortable win for the Indian:

Both of them engaged in long rallies during the match, pushing each other to their best. Though, Srikanth was always in control of the whole match. He did not allow his challenger to surge ahead anytime during the play. At 16-9, he had to suffer a service error but it did not affect Srikanth as the Chinese faltered ahead in the game. Thereby the Indonesian Open champion seized the opportunity to make it 21-10 in the opening game.

The duo indulged in some magnificent rallies where they tried to surprise each other with a variety of shots. However, the Indian looked determined to encounter every antic of his Chinese opponent. The World No. 11 seemed in total control as he played effortlessly covering the whole court and eventually moving to 19-13. With a crackling jump court smash taking him to the finals, it was an excellent display of skills by the former World No. 3 to enter his third super series final of this year. The second set stood at 21-14.

An elated Kidambi Srikanth:

Here is what Srikanth had to say about his recent performance on the world stage:

I played a World Super Series final (Singapore Open) after two years, and then to play the next two finals is a dream for sure.

Indeed it’s a dream come for any player, especially after coming back from injury. He will now face the reigning Olympic champion, Chen Long in the ultimate showdown. Looking forward to a cracker of a match. All the best Kidambi Srikanth! The Indians are supporting you and showering their best wishes.
