P.V. Sindhu who is currently ranked world no 10 in BWF ranking beaten the world no 2 & London Olympics silver medalist Yihan Wang. P.V. Sindhu won this match with very close round 22-20 21-19.

After initial struggle Sindhu shown tremendous patience and came back in-game against world number to Yihan Wang.

Now Sindhu will meet Japanese world number 6 Nozomi Okuhara in Semi finals.

SindhuAsked about her initial feelings, Sindhu said: “This is also Rio Olympics, it’s a very different feeling. It’s one of the best moments. I hope there will be many more to come,” World No 10 said after her 22-20 21-19 victory to become second Indian after Saina Nehwal to reach last four at Olympics.

Queried about the pressure of winning an Olympic medal for India in this difficult time, she said: “I was just thinking about the game. If you play really well you will automatically win the game, and a medal. I’m just focused on my match and the next match, the semis (against Okuhara). I hope I can give my best.”

Coach Pullela Gopichand feels Sindhu can do much better in terms of her defensive ability as she faces world number 6 Nozomi Okuhara in the Olympic semifinals Thursday.

Sindhu till now played 4 matches against the Okuhara and she only won 1 match against her in 2012 Asian Youth Under-19 Championship. Sindhu lost 3 consecutive matches against Okuhara.

This will be very tough match to in the form Sindhu, also she have pressure to win medal for India.
