Defending champion HS Prannoy was knocked out of the men’s singles competition following a straight-game loss to China’s Shi Yuqi (21-19,21-11) in the quarterfinals of the event here in Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold.

Prannoy & Shi Yuqi first time played against each other, Yuqi is second seeded in the tournament while Prannoy was fifth seeded.

Shi Yuqi won 6 consecutive points in the both games Prannoy mange 4 consecutive points to win. In the 39 minutes match Yuqi won total 42 rallies.

Earlier, fourth seeded Indian mixed doubles pair of Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N Sikki Reddy also had suffered a 19-21, 17-21 loss to fifth seeded Chinese duo of Zhang Nan and Li Yinhui.

In the 38 minutes of match Chopra & Reddy earned 8 consecutive points but they failed to convert that in to win.
