The 6th edition of the World T20 is going to be held in India from the 8th of march. India is a strong favorite to win this world cup on the home ground, especially considering the form that they are in, Dhoni’s Boys are the firm favorite to win this year world cup. Lets take a look at Indian team world cup squad and their opponent in the group stages.
India has been placed in group 2 along with arch rivals Pakistan , New Zealand,Australia. The fifth team in the group would be the winner of the group A in the qualifying round, Group A consists of Bangladesh,Ireland,Netherlander & Oman.
Lets have a look at the opponents India will be facing and also the venue and date of each match.
India VS New Zealand -(15th March, Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur).
India opens it campaign against the formidable side of New Zealand on 15th match, This will be a crucial match for both the sides as both will look to secure the win in the opening match. New Zealand has a formidable batting line-up lead by their captain Brendan McCullum. With the likes of Guptill, Taylor and Williamson in the team New Zealand have one of the strongest batting line up in the tournament, It would be interesting to see how the Indian bowlers who cope up the explosive batting line up.
India VS Pakistan – (19th March,Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala).
Next up India face it’s arch-rivals Pakistan in their Second match of the group. So far India has never lost a world cup match against Pakistan and they would look to continue their winning streak. Pakistan would be counting on its bowling attack led by their pacer’s to trouble the Indian batsmen as they look to break the jinx of having never beaten India in a world cup.
India VS Qualifier A – (23rd March, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore).
India would be facing the winner of group A from the qualifier’s. Group A consist of Bangladesh, Netherland , Ireland & Oman. Looking at the sides, Bangladesh is a strong favorite to win the group a and qualify,But both Ireland and Netherlands are also well capable of winning the group. Our prediction? We might see India face Ireland in this Match.
India VS Australia- (27th March, Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali, Chandigarh).
In the last match of the group stage, India face Australia. India who thrashed Australia 3-0 in the recent concluded t20 series would look to do the same when the team meet in the world cup. During the series India was heavily dependent on the top order batting lineup led by Virat Kohli, and would continue to rely on its top heavy batting order in the world cup, while hoping for the bowlers to step up their game against Australia.
