Antonio Conte’s stint with Chelsea started off in a dazzling fashion.The hosts produced a sensational performance to overcome a fighting West Ham.The team looked more aggressive and balanced on paper. Conte’s formation and tactics worked as they looked to be more offensive.

Eden Hazard after having a disastrous season last year started off in a remarkable fashion.He found a way to run through defenses and created chances through small gaps. Full backs Cesar Azpilicueta and Branislav Ivanovic were pushed front to tackle the West Ham midfielders. The move paid off instantaneously as  Azpilicueta won a penalty just after a minute into the second half. Hazard grabbed it with both hands as he rattled the net by striking into the top of the net.Chelsea were in front.


Second half was more about Chelsea as they created chances every 10 minutes. Willian almost made it two as he got into the box and hit a shot across goal but Adrian gets down to turn it away. Deigo Costa’s rusty run came to an end as his shooting was more accurate and controlled. Just when Chelsea looked like scoring James Collins scored out of nowhere. He dribbled across defenders and slotted home a powerful shot off his left foot.Stamford Bridge was shell shocked.But a saviour came in the form of Diego Costa. The Spanish striker fired a shot from 25 meters just before the additional time. The stadium erupted and Antonio Conte ran down the sidelines high fiving the fans.


West Ham were left reeling as Chelsea saw off the additional time without any scare. Eden Hazard was named man of the match for his stellar performance. This win is a morale boost for the team as well as for their fans all over the world. The team that lacked luster and composure last season looked more settled with their new manager and latest signings. Chelsea travel to Watford on Saturday at the Hornets started the season with a draw at Southampton.
