Deigo Costa’s rusty run came to an end as his shooting was more accurate and controlled. Just when Chelsea looked like scoring James Collins scored out of nowhere. He dribbled across defenders and slotted home a powerful shot off his left foot.Stamford Bridge was shell shocked.But a saviour came in the form of Diego Costa. The Spanish striker fired a shot from 25 meters just before the additional time. The stadium erupted and Antonio Conte ran down the sidelines high fiving the fans.
West Ham were left reeling as Chelsea saw off the additional time without any scare. Eden Hazard was named man of the match for his stellar performance. This win is a morale boost for the team as well as for their fans all over the world. The team that lacked luster and composure last season looked more settled with their new manager and latest signings. Chelsea travel to Watford on Saturday at the Hornets started the season with a draw at Southampton.
