#SiVuelveMessiYo – Social media urges Messi to return

A massive social media campaign has been launched in Argentina and around the whole world to convince Leo Messi not to retire from the National Team. Messi  announced his retirement Yesterday after the disappointing Penalty Shoot-out loss to Chile in the final of the Copa America Centario. Fans around the world were shocked and horrified at his decision to quit the national team at just 29.

Since yesterday  various tags including #comebackmessi  and  #SiVuelveMessiYo have been trending on twitter and Facebook with fans as well as lot of eminent personalities asking Leo to reconsider his decision.

 

Argentina’s President Calls Messi to ask him to reconsider his Decision

Argentina’s president Mauricio Macri has personally contacted Lionel Messi to try to persuade the player  to not quit the national team. And ensured him that the problems in AFA will be taken care of . He also tweeted his support for Messi last night saying

“I never feel greater pride in our team,” . “I hope the joy of seeing the best in the world will continue for many years more. #NoTeVayasLio.”

Beside Social media, fans in his home country waited outside the airport with flags and banners in support of leo asking Messi not to leave. The banners said we still love you leo

Beside that the support for the movement has spread much beyond  in Argentina with signs, boards and messages of support at subway station and other places.

To all the Leo Messi fans out there if you also wanna see your star again in  Argentinian colors, show your support on social media and u never know, he might just reconsider his decision.

    Vishal,

    Your post proves the power and influence social media can have. If the campaign continues on as big of a scale, maybe Messi will reconsider his decision. This would have never happened five/ten years ago.
