Sania Mirza becomes sole world No 1 in women’s doubles rankings after Cincinnati title, Sania -Barbora Strycova who ranked 7 in tournament beaten former partner Martina Hingis and Coco Vandeweghe 7-5, 6-4 in Sunday’s Cincinnati final.
After this win now Sania Mirza will claim alone no 1 position in WTA doubles.
This is first title win for Sania Mirza- Barbora Strycova duo.
“The biggest quality we both have that we discovered together, is that we both fight no matter what the score is,” Mirza said.
Mirza said that battling for the doubles top spot against her former partner made for a strange situation.
“I’m not going to lie, it’s a very difficult situation. It’s not a easy because we are still good friends. The first we tournament we split and we come and we have to play each other.
