Sloane Stephens New Us Open Champion

Sloane Stephens registered first career major title win with victory over fellow American fellow American Madison Keys 6-3, 6-0 to claim first grand slam crown. Sloane also become 1st Unseeded player to win US Open title in last 8 years of history and 5th in the grand slam history. The 24-year-old  Sloane Stephens was ranked as low as 957th six weeks ago, having only returned from 11 months out with a foot injury at Wimbledon.

she took just 61 minutes to beat her best friend  Madison Keys. Sloane was calm though out the match was looking like she was knowing game plan of Madison Keys. The score 6-3, 6-0  was an embarrassing side story. Keys was hardly in the match from the moment she trembled on serve at the start.

“I had surgery in January and if someone had told me then that I would win the US Open, I would have said it was impossible,” said Stephens.

“This journey has been incredible and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

“Madison is one of my best friends on tour. I wouldn’t have wanted to play anyone else. I told her that I wished it could have been a draw.”
