It’s gonna be a blockbuster clash at Rio in the first game as World no 1 Novak Djokovic takes on Juan Martin Del Potro. Djokovic hasn’t had a good season so far.On the other side Del potro has been on a roll. It’s going to be an epic clash as the fans are going to witness a fierce game.
But this clash is also going to see one of the favorites to secure a medal crashing out. Both Djokovic and Del Potro are contenders to win a medal for their respective nations. But if Del Potro manages to win this, the match is going into the history books as one of the greatest upsets in the history of Olympics.
The world no 1 had quite a few ups and downs this year. With his French Open triumph, Djokovic became the 8th player in history (and the second oldest) to achieve a Career Grand Slam. The media termed him as the “NOLE SLAM” as he was the reigning champion in all four major tournaments. However this came to an end as he crashed out of Wimbledon 2016 in third round. It was his earliest exit in a Grand Slam since the 2009 French Open.
Returning from a career threatening injury Del potro has tasted a reasonable success so far.He set up a major clash against Stans Wawrinka in the second round of the Wimbledon. He won 3-6 6-3 7-6 6-3.With his recent success against some big names Del Potro is going to be a tough competitor for the Serbian.
