PV Sindhu Korea open

Continuing her magnificent form from the recently concluded World Championships, P V Sindhu eased past Japan’s Minatsu Mitani in the quarterfinals of Korean Open. The match lasted for little over an hour and turned into the favour of the Indian by 21-19, 16-21, 21-10.

P V Sindhu does it again

Mitani went into the half-time leading 11-9 against Sindhu. With the advent of the second half, Pusarla pounced upon the Japanese. She couldn’t believe how Sindhu played a few shots so perfectly. After Minatsu gathered things up, it was too close to call in the first game at 19 points apiece. Bringing in her experience into play, PV Sindhu won the first game 21-19 against Mitani.

As the second game was in play, Pusarla went into the break leading 11-9. However, Mitani upped her ante post the interval. Therefore leading 16-14 against Sindhu. In the end, it was a fantastic turnaround from the Japanese to win the second game 21-16.

P V Sindhu is on a roll!

It was a riveting start for PV Sindhu in the final game thus leading 11-3 at the change of ends against Mitani. Eventually, there were easy pickings for the World No. 4 as she easily won the game 21-10 without breaking a sweat.

The Olympic Silver medalist will now face the No. 6 seed He Bingjiao from China in the penultimate clash.

Sameer went down to the World No. 1 Son Wan Ho

Meanwhile, in another quarterfinal, Sameer Verma fought hard to overcome the challenge of Son Wan Ho. In fact, he managed to take home the first set 22-20. But the Korean came back strongly and proved his mettle very skillfully. As the second game progressed, it was going away from the control of the Indian. Hence, the World No. 1 levelled the match quite easily at 21-10.

Even though Verma had to win the final game to stay in the competition, Wan Ho proved no match for him. As a result, he ended his Korean Superseries campaign in the quarters after losing 22-20, 10-21, 13-21 to World Number. 1 Son Wan Ho. Hard luck.
