With the semi-finals of the Korea Open all done and dusted, we have the best of the lot standing tall. Two of them are the ones who have been in the best of their forms off late. One, the Olympic silver medallist and another, the World Champion. Yes, everyone knows whom I’m talking about and now it’s time again for Sindhu vs Okuhara!
Another final on the cards for Pusarla
With a fantastic start, Sindhu led 8-1 against the Chinese who looked a bit rusty. Relentless PV Sindhu wrapped up the first game in 16 minutes! Won it 21-10 against Bing Jiao. And boy! What a terrific way it was to start off the proceedings!
Even though the World Championship runner-up was dominating until the mid-game interval, her competitor swiftly turned it around. Not only she drew it level at 15-15 but also won it 21-17 to push the match into the decider.
Thereon, it was a neck and neck encounter, unlike the first two games where Sindhu took an early lead at 8-6. Extending her advantage, the Indian managed to make it 11-9 before a fight back by Jiao to reach 12-13. Although, the matters got tensed as the match surged ahead. However, Sindhu took 2 crucial points by hitting a 306kmph smash to make it 18-14 in the final game. It wasn’t too long before she won the match point making it 21-16.
Time for Sindhu vs Okuhara!
PV Sindhu is just one win away from becoming the first Indian to win in Korea.
But the player who lies ahead of her is the Japenese Nozomi Okuhara who edged past her in their last encounter to win a gold at the World Championships!
Nevertheless, Sindhu has moved on from that match and is all set for the ultimate clash. She would be looking forward to avenging her loss in Glasgow and create history at the same time. It’s a new day with high hopes and the support of the entire nation. Let’s cheer our Indian Star by tuning into the match from wherever you are. You don’t wanna miss this, ain’t you?
