The Indian coach saga has finally come to an end when Ravi Shastri was appointed as team India’s head coach. The duty of choosing coach for the Indian team falls on the Cricket Advisory Committee which involves Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman. On Monday, the board interviewed five candidates — Shastri, Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Richard Pybus and Lalchand Rajput. After a much drama on Tuesday evening Shastri outplayed all his opponents and appointed as the head coach of Indian Cricket Team until 2019 World Cup. The vacancy arose due to the former Indian head coach Anil Kumble resigned after Champions Trophy in June expressing that his relationship with India skipper Virat Kohli had moved toward becoming “untenable”.
INDIAN TEAM UNDER RAVI SHASTRI
Shastri had his initially spell with group India (group director) in 2007 he has been known as somebody who has constantly supported his boys and requested that they go out and communicate. Later that year he was appointed as the head of National Cricket Academy by BCCI. Again in 2014 he was appointed as a team Director of Indian Cricket Team and under him India made into the semi-final of two major ICC tournament the World Cup 2015 and T20 World Cup 2016- and additionally moved to No. 1 on the Test rankings for a time of two months until February 2016. During that period he inspired the team to beat Australia in a limited over bilateral series and also whitewashing them in a T20 series by 3-0.
ZAHEER AND RAHUL ARE ALSO THE PART OF COACHING SQUAD
Zaheer Khan who is known for his skillful bowling has been appointed as bowling consultant of Indian Cricket Team. The formidable fast bowler has no formal coaching experience but played a key role for Delhi Daredevils in the recent IPL season.
Rahul Dravid who recently gave up his position as mentor of Delhi Daredevils after signing a two year contract of India A and U-19 Cricket Team. The Wall is appointed as a batting consultant of Indian Cricket Team for overseas Test Series.
