Antonio Conte produced a masterpiece of tactical display as his side Knocked Defending Champions Spain out of the Euro 2016 beating them 2-0. Playing against Spain 4-3-3 formation Italy knew what they were up against they knew their opponent style of play and Conte had prepared his men well for the Spaniards. Italy played with a 3-5-2 formation relying heavily on their wingbacks Mattia de Sciglio and Alessandro Florenzi to make their runs down the flanks and spain didn’t have anybody there. Almost every Italian attack featured a quick ball out wide to one of the wing-backs and they putting a dangerous cross in the box , Spain just couldn’t adjust to their style of attack and it was clear that they are losing the plot. The First breakthrough came in 33rd minute of the match from a free kick which was conceded by Ramos,Eder drove the free-kick along the damp grass and it spat out of De Gea’s grasp and Chiellini was there to put the loose ball in the back of the net. Italy would have been even further ahead had it not been for De Gea inspired performance under the bar.
In second half Italy sat back in their own half and defended deeply, daring the great and famed Spanish midfield to come at them, but they couldn’t the only worth while chance they had was in the 89th minute when Pique shot from close range was saved by Buffon. The final nail in the hammer came in the stoppage time as Pelle scored for Italy from a brillant counterattack.
