With teams having to work hard in European matches with mixed results, fatigue might have played a factor in shaping up this week’s Barclays Premier League results. Matchday 27th pitted Manchester United against Arsenal with the Red Devils coming out on top. Aston Villa suffered a defeat yet again to continue their miserable run whereas Chelsea continued their upward march in the table. Arsene Wenger’s time as the boss was put in doubt following another loss. In what once looked like Arsenal’s year continues to fan out pretty much like the previous years. Below are the top 5 moments in the Premier League this week-
5) Blues gets the better of Ronald Koeman at last- Having gone down 1-0 to the Saints earlier in the match, Chelsea staged a spirited comeback thanks to a inspired performance from Cesc Fabregas to eventually win 1-2 at St. Mary’s stadium and climb to the 12th spot on the Premier league table.
4) Leicester City are still on top- After all the fairytale rise to the top, it would seem to cause a heartbreak if the foxes don’t win the League this season. And keeping in mind the expectations from the fans and admirers all over the world, Claudio Ranieri’s outfit eked out a narrow 1-0 win in injury time thanks to defender Leo Ulloa. They now hold a two point lead from on the top.
3) Spurs seem to be in no mood to let off- After thrashing Fiorentina in midweek in the Europa League clash, Tottenham came from a goal down to win 2-1 against Swansea City at White Hart Lane. Tottenham now lie just 2 points adrift of Leicester City to occupy the second spot. Away from the intense media scrutiny and staying adrift of any controversies coupled with their brilliant performances throughout the season, Tottenham are now the clear frontrunners for the Europa League and Premier League.
