U.S Open the United States Open Tennis Championship is considered as fourth and final major tournament that completes the annual Grand Slam of a season including Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon.
The US Open started competition play in 1881, making it one of the most established title tennis competitions on the planet. The first competition – a men’s competition – was held at the Newport Casino in Newport, Rhode Island in August of 1881. The title was known as U.S. National Singles Championship for men, and was gone to exclusively by clubs that were individuals from the United States National Lawn Tennis Association, making the competition a high society event. The event incorporate Women’s single in 1887, women doubles in 1889 and mix doubles in 1892.
In the year 1968 this championship was given a proper grand slam status.The U.S. Open is held every year finished a two-week time frame in late August and early September. Since 1978 U.S open have been played on the Acrylic hard court of USTA National Tennis Centre.

The new world no.1 Rafeal Nadal is high on confidence after capturing Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Madrid titles this year. The 31 year old Spaniard will be difficult to beat in current form as he want to complete this season on high by adding one more title in his cabinet.
Roger Federer who proved himself by capturing Australian Open and Wimbledon honour this season. The 36 year old Swiss owns the men’s record for clinching most Grand Slam titles(19).
As anyone might expect, tennis fans appear to be pleased to have the prevalent Nadal and Federer back in control. They both have turn back the clock which neither Nadal nor Federer has anticipated after returning from injuries.
INJURY WOES THIS EDITION
This U.S Open title is the absences of several top players.
The 2nd seeded Andy Murray has been ruled out due to hip injury and the Serbian Novak Djokovic is not participating due to elbow injury. The defending champion Stan Wawrinka has pulled out due to knee injury. The Canadian Milos Raonic and Japan’s Kei Nishikori are also missing this edition due to wrist injury.
From the women’s side The 6 times U.S open champion Serena William is not participating due to her pregnancy.
