Gurpreet Singh Sandhu created History as he become the first Indian ever to play in UEFA Europa League. He has been named in the starting line for Stabaek who takes on Wales side Connah’s Quay in the first qualifying round of the competition.

The former East Bengal goalkeeper has played a number of matches in the cup competition last season and also started a league game in May this year, thus becoming the first player to start in a top European league . Sandhu who joined the Norwegian side in 2014 plays as Goalkeeper.
This is a big forward stride for Indian football and let’s hope that soon we will see more players in top competition, Let’s hope for a day when UEFA Champions league fate is decided by Indian players playing at the top Clubs.
