India beat Iran to win third consecutive title, this 3rd time India met Iran in world cup kabaddi final & India beaten Iran in all the three finals.

In exciting thrilling final match of 2016 Kabaddi world cup both the team shown very high-class thrilling game.  First half of the match was dominated by Iran but team India made strong come back on home ground with win 38-29. Ajay Thakur 12 point in second half of the match moved India towards the victory.

Iran shown well defense in first half & forced India to commit the errors. Meraj Sheykh forced Manjeet Chhillar off the court during a raid to lead 19-13 in the 23rd minute.

Fazel Atrachali forced a super tackle in the 35th minute as Iran trailed 24-29. Ajay Thakur all but sealed the match in India’s favour in the 37th minute as he scored two points and India inflicted another all out to take an unassailable 34-24 lead.

Ajay Thakur played a crucial role in India’s win with his raiding prowess.

Thakur admits he was under pressure before the tournament, yet credits that his coaches had worked hard in keeping him mentally focused. “They had one message for me all the time. They told me I am the best. I am the best,” he said after the game. India’s head coach Balwan Singh went further: “Ajay proved he’s the best raider in the world.”

At the end of the game, India captain Anup Kumar kept it simple.

“Ajay won us the final.”
